Responsibilities

Provides senior level expertise and direction in the development or modification and performance of all tasks necessary toensure the identification and documentation of hazards within systems or systems-of-systems using various analysis tools and techniques.

Understands all the elements of system safety engineering to include hazard analyses, hazard

categorization (in terms of severity and likelihood), end effects, causal analyses, mitigation requirements identification,documentation, tracking and implementing, and residual risk assessment.

Typically interfaces with hardware and software design engineering and test engineering to include Integrated Product Teams (IPT). Typical analyses performed include:

functional analyses, hazard analyses, safety requirements analyses, hazard mitigation, safety risk assessments, reliabilityanalyses, and system residual risk assessments.

Reviews and evaluates systems and software for adherence togovernment or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety.

Secret Security Clearance required.

Qualifications

Requires 8 to 10 years with BS/BA or 6 to 8 years with MS/MA or 3 to 5 years with PhD.
