Job Description

Site Lab technician reports to and receives direction from the Site Lab Leads. The Site Lab Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tasks that include but is not limited to safely performing routine and non-routine sample analysis that utilize hazardous chemicals, participating in writing and revising Lab SOPs and test methods and participating in calibrations, GR&R and validation studies. The Lab Technician will inspect, receive, and put into stock lab supplies and provide weekly lab inventory of (Stores) for review. As needed, this individual will execute and provide all documentation for preparation of standards, reagents, instrument calibration, and verification standard SPC charts. The Lab Technician will be responsible for awareness and execution of handling, storage, disposal, and shipping of HAZMAT/RCRA materials and meeting all environmental compliance regulations. The Lab Technician will be responsible for ensuring that all Lab policies are followed (i.e. sample/containers received into lab are labeled per SOP), and conducting and evaluating on-the-job training for shift lab technicians. The Lab technician will be required to troubleshoot and perform maintenance/calibrations to lab equipment (GC, LC, GPC, Titrators, Headspace, UV Vis, moisture analyzers, XRF, Impactor, Nickel Analyzer, and Molding machines) and input necessary work order request (i.e. G3PTM). The Lab Technician will participate in multi-site round robin testing, Resin reactor studies, Brine Recovery membrane studies, and collecting/analyzing brine scrubber samples. The Lab Technician will be responsible for providing shift coverage of vacation, illness, training, etc. for other team members. This position will be filled by the most senior individual meeting the essential requirements of the position.

Must be competent in Six Sigma statistical techniques-must know and use SPC charting rules.

Interpret validity of results and provide accurate results to operations in a timely manner

Recognize and communicate irregular behavior of lab equipment and materials

Interacts with Others in a Manner Consistent with the Leading from Commitment Model

Must be able to be SCBA fit tested and able to work in SCBA gear

Must be able to identify situations/numbers that are abnormal/unique, identify proper people that need information, and report to them the appropriate information in a timely manner

Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing

High School Diploma or equivalent, with courses in algebra and chemistry required

Must be capable of demonstrating basic computer skills (e.g. Windows XP, Word, Excel, LabSoft and other instrument software).

Minimum 3 years experience in laboratory settings (QA or Operator Lab)

Laboratory instrumentation knowledge required

Must have good interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills-..Must be able to communicate effectively to lab team and operations teams.12 hour rotating shift

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Able to function as part of a team.

Must be self-directed and self-motivated.

Ability to prioritize and organize workload and be flexible.

Responsive to additional testing/extra testing needs.

Ability to pay close attention to detail.
