Job Responsibilities and DutiesThe Software Safety Engineer performs safety evaluations of software systems and development programs to ensure reliability; prepares documentation including the hazard analyses and Safety Assessment Report (SAR) for compliance with MIL-STD 882E, AMCOM 385-17, and other software safety requirements; and reviews software source code and code generation processes and build procedures for compliance with a pre-defined standard. Additionally, the candidate is required to support the review of the Technical Data Package (TDP) and presentations for airworthiness considerations, and the Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP). This position participates in IPTs, as well as reviews of software documentation such as requirements, designs, test plan, test report, and process compliance. Qualifications BS in computer science, computer engineering or a related field Familiarity with one or more System Safety and Software Safety requirements: DO-178C, DO-278, and/or DO-254 Experience with one or more of the following software languages: C, C++, C#, Ada, Fortran Applicable software design engineering experience is ideal, but not required Ability to express engineering findings verbally and in written technical reports US Citizenship is required and you must be eligible for DoD security clearance Work ScheduleThis is a full-time position with a typical schedule of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. We offer a flexible and optional 9/80 work schedule which allows employees to work nine-hour days Monday-Thursday and take every other Friday off.
