Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Administrative Support Professional to support our Engineering management and staff at our Huntsville, AL facility. This position provides overall administrative support to multiple Engineering managers and their staff. Responsibilities include management of schedules, conference room meeting setup, travel arrangements, meeting minute and records preparation, special presentation preparation, coordination of special events, food services and support of communications to Executives and customers. This position will also be responsible for the collection and reporting of organizational data/metrics, Training Coordination (course setup, administration, completion monitoring, reporting), and support to other special projects as needed. This role will require frequent interaction with intra- and inter-organizational contacts, customers, and public agencies that will require good diplomacy and judgment to resolve conflicting needs, and ability for discreetly handling sensitive personnel and management topics. This position will also be responsible for maintaining an inventory of supplies with ordering authority that may eventually include delegated buyer authority.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under minimal supervision, performs a variety of executive administrative support duties that are complex in nature and where judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.

50% - Provide support to engineering special projects, engineering business rhythm and performance data collection and reporting, as well as training coordination.

15% - Support Engineering Director report coordination, presentation coordination and preparation.

10% - Travel booking and expense reporting for engineering organization.

10% - Engineering schedule management.

5% - Order general supplies.

10% - Other duties as assigned.


Requires High School diploma or equivalent and 7 years of directly related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). An Associate's degree and work experience within an engineering organization preferred.

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook expected.

  • Must possess strong organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and critical time constraints.

  • Effectively prioritize assignments, providing consistent quality results.

  • Assists management in analyzing and coordinating project planning, resourcing, staffing, quality, reliability, schedule and cost. Web page design, PLM systems analysis and reporting, engineering performance metrics data collection and analysis reporting skills a plus.

  • Ability to assist with analysis and establishment of plans to meet key project objectives. Ability to identify and resolve issues.

  • Ability to assist in monitoring and managing critical department and project information, and schedules.

  • Must be able to provide administrative guidance for activities in defined scope of responsibilities.

  • Ability to effectively work as a team member is expected. Must be able to successfully establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

  • Effectively communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors needed.

  • High level of confidentiality relating to sensitive information. Maintain sensitive documents/files for managers.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
