n Summary n



This position works as part of a team supporting several thermal and mechanical material evaluation programs for NASA, DOD, and subcontractors. Candidates with interest and expertise in the areas of composites, materials science, and test development and execution are encouraged to apply. The candidate must be proficient in problem solving, technical writing, Matlab, and exhibit strong initiative with demonstrated competency executing projects. Planning, prioritizing, and goal setting are key skills necessary for this position. Experience with LabView is a plus.

n Key Responsibilities n

n

+ Understand material construction, manufacture, and fiber architecture and their relative impact on material performance.



+ Knowledge of experimental material analysis techniques, test design, and instrumentation related to advanced materials



+ Conduct analysis of test data and research results and arrive at interpretations of material behavior.



+ Coordinate all results with team members and



+ Maintain knowledge and awareness of engineering discipline through familiarity with current engineering literature and state of technology in the field.



+ Develop, update, and create material databases for engineering archival purposes.



+ Support technical proposal composition.

+ Conducts experimental procedures and collects, analyzes, and interprets results for review by more experienced researchers or management.



+ Compiles and analyzes research results and arrives at interpretations.



+ Independently evaluates, selects, interprets, and applies standard engineering techniques, processes, and criteria, and uses judgment in making adaptations and modifications to research projects.



+ Must demonstrate an ability to learn quickly in a complex, high technology environment.


n Security Clearance n

n

+ US Citizenship required and the ability to obtain/maintain a secret security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) Secret


n Minimum Qualifications n

n

+ BS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field with relevant internship or co-op work experience.



+ Matlab, SolidWorks, LabView experience.



+ Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: thermal behavior, material science, composites, laboratory research, vacuum
